Traveling was interesting as usual, and I ended up spending the night on the floor of the Santa Barbara airport the first night. The Flight to France was a long one but my first two days here have been great and I've been able to see and learn an incredible amount.

Mark T and I went to San Diego as part of a little doc we're doing with Shawn a friend of ours who is leaving school and the castle to go back to San Diego and work at a restaurant where he worked before school. Riding the train back was interesting and probably better than driving.
Spent the last few days hanging out at the beach just mostly messing around which was nice. It is really starting to feel like summer to me. Time is really going fast, seems like just last week that I was saying this about last summer. The young boy is Sebastian, he is Kirstens' son and very active at six years old.
Went to UCSB yesterday to hang out with John, Forest was also there. It was nice to see them and it is always interesting to go there just because the way that those kids live and behave is so different from the kids at Brooks, for obvious reasons. I'm not sure if I really like the shots or not but I think they explain where I am coming from.
My parents came to visit over break and took me to Yosemite, I can see why so many photographs are taken there the place is one of overwhelming natural beauty. We just did the normal tourist thing and had a lot of fun. But it was upsetting to see peoples impact on the place, and the animals. I would love to go back some day and spend some time climbing there.
I'm 19, I go to Brooks Institute, I'm working towards a B.A. in Visual Journalism. I like to be outside, I love to travel and want to see as much of the world as possible. I grew up in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Right now I am just trying to become more aware of my world and to expand on the way I see and photograph things. All images copyright, Jeff Ball 2008.
